The Facilities at Ashby Baptist Church

We are blessed with a historical building in the centre of town that has been renovated into a modern, welcoming and versatile space. This helps our worship services and events to be comfortable and accessible to today’s visitors. We often open our doors during events in the town and for use by community groups and for private functions.

Sanctuary

Our worship area is a spacious, carpeted, open-plan room upstairs. A two-level platform extends along one long edge and houses our baptistry, lectern and band. Instead of pews, we have chairs (including high-backed comfy chairs for the elderly and others who may need them) that can be arranged in whatever layout suits the occasion. There is a disabled toilet with baby-changing facilities and a regular toilet. We have an audio-visual desk which controls the PA system and two TV screens.

Creche

At the back of the sanctuary is our crèche room. It is equipped with toys for young children and has privacy windows to the main area.

Lounge

Downstairs is the comfortable lounge with padded chairs and coffee tables. Drinks can be served from the open-plan kitchenette. A partition wall divides the lounge from the middle hall and can be opened to double the space. There is a disabled toilet with baby-changing facilities.

Halls

We have two halls downstairs, equipped with chairs and tables that are stowed away in cupboards. The rear hall has toilets and a craft sink. It can be accessed from the side of the building.

Kitchen

We have a fully stocked stainless steel catering kitchen at the rear, complete with a 6-ring gas cooker and industrial dishwasher.

Lobby

The Lobby at Ashby Baptist Church

Our glass-fronted lobby provides a welcoming entrance to the upstairs sanctuary and downstairs lounge.

Baptistry

Our sanctuary is equipped with a baptismal pool with a warm water supply for use in the baptism of new believers.

Accessibility

There is a ramp to the front door and another to the rear entrance and fire escape. We have a lift to assist mobility-impaired visitors in gaining access to the worship area. On both floors there are disabled toilets.

Parking

Our forecourt is not for general parking; but council parking is available right in front of the church and a short distance away on North Street. Both of these car parks are free on Sundays and after 5 pm the rest of the week. There is a small stretch of on-street, single-yellow-lined parking at the side of the church, available for use in the evenings from 6 pm and on Sundays, which we ask able-bodied visitors to leave for the mobility-impaired.
